Water Colours! One of the most interesting and challenging medium to work with. It takes great efforts to master this medium as if used inefficiently, it can give a muddy effect; lacking clarity, brightness and transparency in the painting. A lot of practice goes into mastering water colors. Maintaining freshness and transparency of medium and allowing light to pass through the white paper is quite challenging at times. Unlike most other mediums where detailed working is required, here the beauty of the painting comes through maintaining simplicity and depicting only the necessary subject.

I was first inspired to take up water colors after I came across works by Milind Mulick and M. K. Kelkar. I was amazed to see the landscapes with such beauty in simplicity. 'Watercolors' by Milind Mulick and 'Wanderings of a Brush' by M. K. Kelkar have been the first books that inspired me to try my hands at this medium.
