Here are a few painting I did with Oil pastels on cartridge paper. A few of these are in abstract and are my favourites. I have them framed and hung on the walls of my home.

This painting of the lady has been done using Oil Pastels

An attempt to get abstract with Oil Pastels...

This painting has a small anecdote to it. I generally sit at one stretch and try to complete a painting no matter how many hours it takes. Unless painting an oil painting, I generally make it a point to complete the painting in the first sitting itself. About a year and half ago, my dad was transferred to a different town and he wanted to setup his house with my paintings. He was shifting alone to the new place due to my sister's education. While my dad was going through my art work, he commented stating that I try to make my paintings look picture perfect. However in his opinion, I should try something abstract which looked picture perfect!!! He said he particularly didn't like my inclination towards similar themes of painting and wanted me to try something abstract which made sense... probably a portrait or nature theme in abstract form. He had seen abstract works of M. F. Hussain and Anjolie Ela Menon and admired them. I kept wondering how I could achieve that! Finally I sat through following few nights and managed to paint two paintings, this painting of an old man and another of a woman (not shown here), both of which my dad loved. He still has them hung on the walls of his house.
