A Charcoal Painting of Ms. Universe, Sushmita Sen...

Charcoal painting is quite a tougher medium (compared to other mediums) to work with as it requires a lot of patience and involves detailed work. It is best to work from top to bottom. Keeping the working media in vertical position helps in top - bottom approach.

One has to be extremely careful and should take care that the hand doesn't touch the painted portion, else the painting can become very smudgy.

This painting has been made using Charcoal Pencil and Charcoal Powder. Thick charcoal coats are given to the deeply shaded areas like hair and neck, while the face has been maintained clean with less shading. Wherever the effects of light play, shading has been used by smudging charcoal powder. It took about 6 hours for this painting to be completed. Below, another Charcoal painting of a dog.

Medium: Charcoal
Media: Cartridge Paper
